Professional Development (PD) Days

For those who aren’t fluent in legalese, this joint communication means…

PD days are not automatically granted.

They need to be requested with as much advanced notice as possible.

Managers can ask what you are taking/doing with the day.

President’s Tip: submit this information with your request to speed up approvals.

Managers can ask you to create a presentation or share your learnings with your colleagues.

President’s Tip: Remember to add both the education you attended as well as the presentation to your CRNA portfolio.

Staff need to be able to link the education taken to how it relates to your profession (not your current job). For example, you could take a computer skills course which while not nursing specific, would be related to most nursing positions.

These days are not intended for mandatory or preferred education as per manager direction, they are intended to allow for personal professional development without employer influence.

If you have any questions about professional education days please reach out to the local 211 exec at local211exec@una.ca
